This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect information when you use our platform at edpayu.com and app.edpayu.com (the "Service"). By using our Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information:

School Information: School name, address, board affiliation, UDISE code, and administrative contact details provided during registration.
Student Data: Student names, roll numbers, class and section assignments, attendance records, exam scores, and fee payment history as entered by the school.
Parent/Guardian Contact Information: Phone numbers and WhatsApp numbers provided by the school for communication purposes.
Staff Information: Teacher and staff names, contact details, and role assignments within the platform.
Usage Data: Log data including IP addresses, browser type, pages visited, time spent, and feature usage patterns to improve our Service.

How We Use Information

We use the information we collect to:

Deliver the Service: Manage attendance, exams, fees, report cards, timetables, and other school management functions.
Communication: Send notifications to parents via WhatsApp regarding attendance, fee reminders, exam results, and school announcements as configured by the school.
Improvement: Analyze usage patterns to improve features, fix bugs, and develop new capabilities.
Support: Respond to queries and provide technical assistance.

Data Storage and Security

All data is stored on servers located in India (Google Cloud Platform, Mumbai region).
Data is encrypted in transit (TLS/SSL) and at rest.
Access to production systems is restricted and monitored.
Payment processing is handled through PCI-DSS compliant payment gateways.
We conduct regular security reviews and follow industry best practices.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information. We share data only in the following circumstances:

Payment Processing: Fee payment data is shared with our payment processor (Razorpay) to process UPI, card, and net banking transactions.
WhatsApp Communication: Parent phone numbers are used to deliver school notifications via WhatsApp Business API.
Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or governmental authority.

Student Data Protection

We comply with the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act, 2023 and its provisions regarding children's data.
Student data is only accessible to authorized school staff and the student's parent/guardian.
We practice minimal data collection — we only collect data that is necessary for the school management functions.
Student data is never used for advertising, profiling, or any purpose outside of school management.

Data Retention

We retain school data for as long as the school's account is active and the subscription is maintained. Upon account termination or request, we will delete all school data within 90 days. Schools can request data export at any time before deletion.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

Access: Request a copy of your data stored on our platform.
Correction: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
Deletion: Request deletion of your data, subject to legal and contractual obligations.
Export: Export your data in standard formats (CSV, PDF) at any time.

Cookies

We use minimal, functional cookies only. These are essential for authentication (keeping you logged in) and remembering your preferences. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking cookies.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify registered schools of significant changes via email or in-app notification. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
